How I Supercharged Noteplan with AI Search Using Just 4MB of Storage

A few months ago, I made the switch from Apple Notes to Noteplan for several compelling reasons. One of the features I’ve come to appreciate most is its native support for Markdown. Noteplan also offers a variety of AI-powered tools for writing and searching within a single document. However, I couldn't find a built-in way to use natural language (semantic search) to look for information across all of my notes, memos, and even my diaries.
If you're interested in why I moved away from Apple Notes, you can read my previous post on the topic.
The Challenge with a Growing Note Collection
I have a substantial number of notes, and although not all of them are in Noteplan yet, the collection has grown significantly since I started. I rely on tags more than folder structures and try to add relevant keywords to make my notes discoverable. Still, I frequently run into two main issues:
- I search with a different keyword that is semantically similar to what I originally wrote.
- I need to find answers to questions or consolidate information that is spread across multiple documents.
This is where AI can be incredibly helpful.
