Navigating the constant flow of information in your industry, or even just keeping up with topics you care about, can feel like an impossible challenge these days. News comes at us from literally everywhere: newsletters, TV, Google searches, news aggregators, AI tools like ChatGPT, and even just casual conversations. While all these sources offer valuable insights, they often come with a few significant drawbacks:

  • Diverse Perspectives: News on a particular topic often has many different angles. For example, if you're interested in Anthropic AI news as a tech developer, your focus might be on the latest model advancements. However, a fund manager might care more about the business side, like funding rounds or market impact. Traditional news feeds often don't cater to these varied viewpoints.
  • Algorithmic Bias: News is sometimes prioritized or filtered based on algorithms or the preferences of whoever runs the news platform. This can mean truly important information for you ends up buried at the bottom because other, more mainstream stories are pushed forward – stories you might not even care about.
  • Source Credibility: The specific sources (like Twitter, Reddit, or various websites) are usually chosen by the news aggregator. Even when you use AI tools like ChatGPT or standard web searches, they might not pick the sources you consider most credible, reliable, or to be the primary origin of information.
  • Lack of Personal Relevance: Most news aggregators are built for the masses, even if they offer some customization. It's not always easy to understand how a specific piece of news should (or will) personally affect you.

Even in the age of AI, general news aggregation isn't perfect. While some solutions try to address these issues, wouldn't it be even better if you could tailor your own news aggregator precisely to your unique preferences? Imagine being able to:

  • Select the exact sources you trust.
  • Decide how news should be summarized.
  • Relate news directly to your job, hobbies, or anything else you care about (AI is excellent at this!).
  • Translate content if you like.
  • Visualize your news in your preferred layout.
  • And much, much more!

In this blog post, I’ll show you how to do exactly that using MCP (Model-Context Protocol) technology. This amazing standard, which has recently gained traction in the AI space, can connect nearly any web service – from Google and cloud storage to email and more – directly to AI models, including Claude, Gemini and recently ChatGPT.

By the end of this guide, you’ll have a personalized news feed page that displays your preferred news, summarized, categorized, and filtered just the way you like it.
